Our History
TIG Advisors dates back to 1898 with the creation of the Rollins & Rollins agency. Here, our agency founders established a legacy of integrity and consistency. Today, we are a diverse advisory firm anchored by expertise in Business Insurance, Benefits & Employer Services, and Personal Solutions.
We are proud of our founders and their family’s impact in the state of Missouri. Rollins’ family included James S. Rollins, considered “the father of the University of Missouri” for his successful effort in getting the University of Missouri built in Boone County. A member of Vandiver’s family, Willard Duncan Vandiver, is credited with making the declaration that gave Missouri its motto, “The Show Me State”: “I come from a state that raises corn and cotton and cockleburs and Democrats, and frothy eloquence neither convinces nor satisfies me. I am from Missouri. You have got to show me.”
The agency became Rollins & Vandiver and soon changed to Rollins, Vandiver & Digges when Charlie Digges Sr. joined the firm in the late 1950s. In 1981, Rollins, Vandiver & Digges and Conley Myers Agency formed The Insurance Group and later acquired the Columbia Insurance agency. Our office was in the historic Guitar Building in downtown Columbia until 2007 when we moved into our new facility in south Columbia.
As the world has become more complex, we have evolved to help our clients achieve greater success. We have expanded our footprint with locations in St. Louis and Jefferson City, and our team of experts has grown. While our company has evolved, we still honor our legacy and the values that have made us a trusted advisor for over 120 years. We live each day by design and are invigorated and humbled that we have the opportunity to help our clients protect what matters most.

Overview of Legal Counsel: For complicated ERISA, Benefits and HR matters, we partner with the legal team at Marathas Barrow Weatherhead Lent LLP (MBWL) to ensure that our clients are protected and informed. The team at MBWL is contracted on retainer, and available when you need them. MBWL will provide you with practical, no nonsense advice, guidance and legal assistance.
Sunstar: In 2021, TIG joined Sunstar Insurance Group, which is a financial holding company that seeks to acquire equity ownership positions in independent insurance which are compatible with an entrepreneurial sales culture and partnership management philosophy. Indio: TIG has partnered with Indio to make the client experience easier than ever. Instead of filling out endless stacks of paper forms and insurance carrier applications, TIG utilizes Indio to send electronic forms to a potential or current client. A client can then compete these forms and submit back, including electronic signatures, all with a few clicks.
Sedera: TIG has partnered with Sedera to help reduce the burden of health care costs for our clients. As a not-for-profit Medical Cost Sharing community, Sedera uses their community to spread the costs of procedures and treatments between the network of members; all members have to do is file a statement of need, and the rest is taken care of by fellow Sedera contributors. With over $32.2 million in shared costs and 52% overall savings for members through Sedera’s negotiating power, TIG looks forward to passing on some of that savings to our own clients through our work with Sedera going forward.
